The AMAZON CHANNEL TELEVISION (ACT!) will be an exclusive global entertainment/documentary green-themed channel delivered via satellite and cable TV channel and/or terrestrial TV or IPTV entirely dedicated to Environmental Preservation, Human Sustainability and The Green Cause, with the Amazon Rainforest as its main icon. The first truly green television channel in the world.

The AMAZON CHANNEL will offer both unique content produced in-house and acquired programming focused primarily on Environmental Issues, Popular Science, Technology, Indigenous Topics and History, operating on a platform similar to that of the Discovery Channel and National Geographic channels.

The AMAZON CHANNEL project management is led by a team of selected technical, legal, scientific, financial, political and environmental professionals based in Rio de Janeiro, assisted by an International Advisory Board of specialists in Sustainability Amazon region.

The AMAZON CHANNEL programming will highlight:

  • The threats and demands that our planet is facing today, with the exhaustion/limitation of natural resources resulting from devastation of forests, river and oceanic pollution, oil spills, hazardous waste disposal, global warming and threats of wildlife extinction;
  • Renewable and alternative energy sources (wind, solar, hydrogen, alcohol, geothermal);
  • Cultural diversity and indigenous issues;
  • Environmental issues beginning with the Amazon and extending to other regions and natural environments of the world;
  • The balance of sustainable economic development and the environment;
  • Preserving and restoring the natural environment;
  • Natural wildlife habitats and their preservation;
  • Future perspectives

The AMAZON CHANNEL’s current strategic partners include:

  • SONY BROADCAST & PROFESSIONAL GROUP (Sony Brasil Ltda.): responsible for equipment delivery as well as the mounting, installation and technical maintenance of all Head End/Play Out units;
  • EUTELSAT – European Communications Satellite Organization, through its 27 satellites, will be responsible for transmission to the European, Middle-Eastern, African and Asian markets;
  • HISPAMAR Satellites – Spanish-Brazilian satellite consortium with optimal footprint over the Amazon region; responsible for integration and delivery to local operators and MSO’s;
